The law of conservation of energy states that energy cannot be created or destroyed in an isolated system. In other words, the total amount of energy in a closed system remains constant over time. Energy can only be transferred or transformed from one form to another. Everything is made up of atoms. We may not think of ourselves of being made of energy, but life force energy flows through us. Life force energy is vital energy that sustains all living beings. It maintains our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Different Life Force Energy
In traditional Chinese medicine, life force energy is referred to as Chi. It is believed that a balanced and harmonious flow of Chi is essential for optimal health. Chi is said to circulate through specific pathways called meridians, and blockages or imbalances in this energy can lead to physical or emotional ailments.
In Indian philosophy and yoga, life force energy is referred to as Prana. Prana is believed to be present in the air we breathe and is responsible for the vitality and energy of all living beings. Pranayama, a practice of breath control in yoga, aims to harness and balance this life force energy.
Reiki
The term Reiki is made up of two Japanese words: Rei meaning universal and Ki meaning life force energy. In Reiki and other energy healing modalities, life force energy is considered the universal energy that is channeled through the practitioner to promote healing and balance in the recipient. It is believed that when the life force energy is low or disrupted, it can manifest as physical or emotional ailments, and by restoring and rebalancing this energy, healing can occur. The law of conservation of energy helps us to know we aren’t just infinite in our existence, but we can change something for a greater purpose.
Ways to strengthen Life Force Energy
There are different ways we are able to strengthen our life force energy. As listed above, yoga and reiki are two ways to increase our energy. The following are a few more suggestions:
- Get out into nature.
- Meditate with crystals.
- Practice chakra balancing.
- Eat whole, nutritious foods and eliminate processed foods.
- Meditate.
- Practice deep breathing and/or guided imagery.
- Improve your sleep quality.
- Work on increasing your vibrations through affirmations, fun activities, and movement.
- Exercise.
- Prayer.
Overall, the concept of life force energy is a way to understand the interconnectedness of our physical, mental, and energetic bodies, and how nurturing and balancing this energy can contribute to our overall well-being.
