Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a disorder in which tissue that normally grows within the uterus grows outside of it. Women who have endometriosis suffer from pain, depression, anxiety, fatigue, heavy periods, and often times, infertility. We can combat the symptoms of endometriosis by using herbs and supplements.

Turmeric is an anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiangiogenic. Curcumin is the primary active ingredient in turmeric. It has been shown to reduce estradiol production and decrease inflammation. Peppermint helps with inflammation and reducing pain. Chamomile has antispasmodic properties to help combat muscle spasms endometriosis may cause.

Magnesium helps with pain and muscle pain. Omega-3 may decrease the size of endometriosis lesions. Zinc may help in reducing the inflammation of endometriosis. It has also been researched that women with endometriosis have a lower level of zinc in their bodies. Additional studies need to be conducted, but this could connect a zinc deficiency with an increased risk for endometriosis.

If you have endometriosis, or have noticed the symptoms of it occurring, talk to your physician to see if adding herbs and supplements may benefit you.
