I didn’t create a relationship with God inside of a church. If you ask me, God isn’t there anyhow. Don’t get me wrong. I’m sure for many that’s exactly where they feel the closest to God and that’s okay. It just isn’t for everyone. The leadership within a church isn’t always about God, and it should be. There are some of those who use their position to push their own agendas. “God is calling us to get a vaccine.” “God is saying to donate all of your money.” “God said to hate people if they love someone of the same sex.” Say what now? No, God didn’t say any of it. The clergy did. The clergy uses the fact that they went to school and God “called” them to allow themselves to exploit people and to push what they want. People buy into it. People hate people because they believe the Bible says they should hate anyone that is different than them. People give up their life savings because they believe the Bible says so. There are even people out there that build cults and say they’re doing God’s calling because they take what is in the Bible and twist it to meet their own agendas. A church is man-made. People go to school to be pastors, reverends, etc. It makes them no less a human being than the rest of them. They aren’t any closer to God than the rest of us. Some are really good at one they do. They see their position as being a true way to help people. They’re empathetic and understanding. They’re compassionate and see that they have the ability to encourage people and give them hope. And then there are others who abuse their position and see it as a way to brainwash their congregation. They know people are listening to them and hang on every word they are saying. There are members of their congregation that will give over money, put substances into their body without really understanding the consequences, and it is all because they believe their leader wouldn’t lead them in the wrong direction. More and more this is happening and it occurs in every religion. People have to question what they are being told and look outside of their church, their leadership, to find out what God is really about. God wouldn’t hate you for your views. God doesn’t want you to hate other. God wouldn’t ask you to drain your bank account. God wouldn’t ask you to hurt others. God is all knowing, all loving. God is where you feel Him most.
