Herbs for Respiratory Health

There are different helpful herbs for respiratory health. A couple of these herbs include garlic, yarrow, eucalyptus, and elecampane. Garlic contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. It helps to improve lung function by reducing airway inflammation. The antioxidants help to protect the respiratory system. Yarrow has been known to be used in case of pneumonia, colds, and respiratory illnesses. It contains antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties.

Eucalyptus helps to loosen phlegm. Those who are struggling because of illnesses such as bronchitis and colds may find relief by breathing in steam from eucalyptus. Eucalyptus oil may also be diluted and applied to the skin for relief. Elecampane is a member of the sunflower family. This plant contains chemicals that kill bacteria and work on inflammation. Elecampane is high in phytochemicals, especially inulin. Inulin soothes bronchial passages, acts as an expectorant, and reduces bronchial secretions.
