Reiki Symbols

Reiki symbols are sacred symbols used in the practice of Reiki, a healing technique originating from Japan. The symbols themselves don’t create the power. The strength lies in the practitioner’s focus and the movement of making the symbols. Below are five common symbols.

Cho Ku Rei: Also known as the Power Symbol, it is used to increase and focus energy. It can enhance the effectiveness of healing on physical, mental, and emotional levels. It’s purpose is to increase the power of the universal energy coming to you through Reiki. The symbol is generally taught first to students as it is an easier one to do.

Sei He Ki: Known as the Mental/Emotional Symbol, it is used to heal emotional and mental imbalances, bringing harmony and balance to the mind. It can be used to release negative emotions and promote deep emotional healing. The symbol helps to clear emotional blockages. It is often taught to second degree reiki students as it is more specific in its intent and a bit more complicated in structure.

Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen: The Distance Symbol, it enables Reiki practitioners to send healing energy across time and space. It is often used to send healing to someone who is not physically present. The distance symbol strengthens your ability to heal from a distance. This symbol is meant for Reiki Level 2 practitioners or higher to use.

Dai Ko Myo: Also known as the Master Symbol, it represents enlightenment and the inner divine light. It is used to help with spiritual transformation and connection to higher consciousness. The symbol helps to reach deep into the soul. It connects the mind and body while strengthening spirituality.

Raku: This symbol is used to seal the energy after a Reiki session. It helps in grounding and stabilizing the energy, bringing the session to a close.

These symbols are considered sacred and are typically taught during Reiki attunement processes. It is important to use them responsibly and with respect.
