Self-care refers to the ways we can take care of ourselves. We take an active role in our mental, physical, and spiritual health. Self-care isn’t selfish, its a necessity, as you can’t pour from an empty glass. If you don’t take care of yourself first, you won’t be able to those around you either. Having habits you turn to during stressful situations are helpful for self-care. Doing things that will help you live well benefits your emotional and physical state.

When we give our bodies enough rest, movement, and proper nutrition, this is a form of self-care. We can also do other things, like meditation and yoga, to boost our mental health. Hobbies are a great form of self-care. Some people like to write, paint, or dance. Others might find enjoyment in getting outside, playing with children and animals, or just taking a leisurely walk. Whatever brings us joy helps us to take care of ourselves. Doing these activities also help us to build resistance during stressful times.
