Senna Tea

Senna tea may be used for occasional constipation. Senna contains immune support in the form of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, but it also contains laxative properties. Senna is a prescription-free laxative that may stimulate the bowels and help defecation be easier. The sennosides in senna irritate the lining of the bowels causing it to move things along.

Taking senna for too long may cause an electrolyte imbalancement or liver damage. It is not to be used for long-term use as it can cause the bowels to stop working properly on their own. The max amount of time to use senna would be two weeks, but it is always important to consult your personal care physician before trying an herbal remedy.
