Water

Water is a necessity in life. The human body is made up of approximately 60% of water. It keeps us hydrated. It helps our bodies to function the way they are supposed to. When we consume water, it helps clear toxins out of our body through urination, bowel movements, and perspiration. It helps to lubricate and cushion our joints. Dehydration can cause joint pain because the joints are made up of about 80% of water. Water protects the spinal cord. Again, it provides a cushion for the spine’s discs. It aids in digestion. Water helps to break down food so the body can absorb nutrients. Stools become softer and easier to pass when we drink enough.

If we do strenuous exercises, are in hot temperatures, or have heavy labor careers, it’s important to increase water intake. We are capable of becoming dehydrated easier than we realize. Signs of being dehydrated include dizziness, headaches, and tiredness. The mouth, lips, and eyes may become dry. Only small amounts of urine will be passed the more severe dehydration becomes and urine takes on a dark yellow tint. Excessive thirst occurs. It’s important to listen to the body and make sure to consume water frequently.
