Aromatherapy for Depression

Depression may be caused by a variety of factors. Pre-existing conditions, such as hypoglycemia, adrenal fatigue, sleep apnea, and anemia can cause depression. Tension and stress, poor diet, food allergies, nutritional deficiencies, unresolved emotional issues, and chronic pain are all possible contributors to depression.

There are different ways we can try to help ease symptoms of depression. Changing our diet may improve our mental health. We may also include different supplementations such as SAMe, fish oil, ginkgo biloba, or a high-potency multivitamin. Exercise is another common tool in combating symptoms of depression.

An aspect some may not realize that can be helpful is aromatherapy. Aromatherapy is an alternative medicine that could be used in additional to other tactics to help relieve depression symptoms. It is inexpensive and noninvasive.

Lavender may be used to reduce anxiety, boost the mood, increase calmness, and reduce stress. Bergamot is an essential oil used to reduce stress. Ylang-ylang may be used to boost the mood and lower blood pressure.
